The October Chamber Committee meeting was addressed by Anne-Claire Loftus from Bucks County Council agency FloodSmart, and Christina Worsley, Environmental Consultant from ‘Newground’. Christina was visiting Chesham to give local businesses aims to raise awareness of flood risk in Chesham, and to provide information how best to cope with sudden flooding.
Chesham was specifically chosen due to past flooding episodes. Despite engineering works to improve the Vale Brook culvert, a recent torrential storm undid some of the good work. Christina stressed the importance of a contingency plan, adequate insurance, alternative storage provision, local emergency volunteer groups to call out, and much more.
