Chamber Summer Soiree Report
Thank you to all who helped make the Chamber’s Summer Soiree on Wednesday 7th September, such an enjoyable and successful evening.
We are grateful to Chiltern Hills Academy and Principal Kevin Patrick for allowing us use of The Atrium. It was an ideal location, considering the theme of the event: Bridging the Gap: Invest in Tomorrow’s Workforce.
Following an introduction by Jackie Campbell, explaining the work of OppsinBucks and the Buckinghamshire and Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership, we had excellent speeches by Kevin Patrick, by Chiltern Hills Academy Enterprise Adviser Mick Carling, and Nick Coleman, co-founder of Medical Supermarket and The Snaffling Pig Co. All reiterated the message that businesses can contribute meaningfully to developing essential workplace skills for young people.
Nick Coleman, speaking from the perspective of one who regularly offers placements, assured us that the benefits are by no means all one way, and urged us all to ‘take the risk’, and discover that it wasn’t a risk after all.

Chiltern Chamber would like to thank our sponsors, The Garnett Foundation, OppsinBucks and the Buckinghamshire and Thames Valley Local Enterprise Partnership. Thanks also to Committee members Sandra White and Jackie Campbell for organising the evening, and to Tim Zekki of Duende for the delicious food.
