Chamber Member voted ‘Pride of Bucks’
Martin Parkes owner of Flix Hair & Beauty on Chesham High Street has been awarded a Pride of Bucks award for “Business in Action”. Our congratulations on a very well deserved award. Martin puts a huge amount of time and energy into making Chesham a better place to live and work. In addition to being a member of the Chamber Committee he is also co-founder of Better Chesham, Chairman of the Chesham Action Partnership and does a lot of work to encourage young people into work. The category was sponsored by Buckinghamshire Business First.
It was a double celebration for the salon as Helen Brandon went on to win “Employee of the Year” for her care of older people visiting the salon, Helen who has been a hairdresser for 44 years was nominated for going the extra mile to make sure her customers look their best. She often visits clients at home if they are unwell and has even been known to do their shopping when they can’t get out themselves.
Other Chesham winners include the tireless Phil Folly as “Community Champion” for the huge amount of work he does for Chesham’s environment and with older people. Claire O’Regan won the “Cultural Contribution” category for her outstanding work with Rafe’s Place and the Young Person 18-25 Award was taken by 18 year old Christopher Bailey for his commitment to Fairtrade.
The Chamber would like to thank Trinity Mirror Southern and the staff at the Bucks Examiner for initiating these awards that recognise the great work done in our community by volunteers that selflessly give their time and enthusiasm.
