Chamber Local Plan Submission
The Chiltern Chamber response to the Joint Local Plan is available for download here.
We will confess to the fact that our submission is somewhat Chesham focussed on the detail. This reflects two main factors: first, the main area of search for the employment and enterprise space (a natural focus for the Chamber) is largely in the vicinity of Chesham. And secondly, the Chamber has been involved with, and supportive of the Chesham Society’s A Vision for Chesham.
If you haven’t seen the Chesham Society’s video presentation of their vision, here it is:
The Chamber’s general perspective is to opt for a number of employment zone clusters around existing sites. As has been noted in almost every meeting we have attended on the subject, there is little point in making decisions on housing and employment space, without addressing the issue of infrastructure, and this is spelt out in our submission.
The Joint Local Plan now moves onto its next stage, with further consultation stages. Whilst the Chamber’s focus is largely on business (we suggest engagement with a greater number of SME’s in the Local Plan area as part of the development of a local Economic Strategy), we expect to share thoughts and ideas with many of the other submitting parties over coming months.
